Joseph Golombowski, a resident at Cherry Hill Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Johnston, Rhode Island, is proud that his artwork was chosen to appear on the front of hundreds of Christmas cards.
Each year, parent company Life Care Centers of America invites residents in more than 200 nursing and rehab facilities to submit Christmas card designs, and one piece is chosen for each of the organization's geographical divisions. One is also chosen from affiliate company Century Park Associates. A total of nine designs are printed and distributed to facilities and regional offices throughout Life Care and Century Park.
Golombowski's depiction of Santa Claus was the 2016 winner for Life Care's centers in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan.
"I felt very excited to win," said Golombowski.
When he was asked what inspired his painting, he smiled and simply said, "I like Santa!"
Golombowski is a very active resident at Cherry Hill Manor, participating in all sorts of activities, from art to men's groups. His mother is also a resident, and he is the proud father of two children.
